BCCI order players to remain in Sydney until after Harbhajan's appeal

India have sensationally suspended their tour of Australia following Harbhajan Singh's three-match suspension for racially abusing Andrew Symonds. Have your say on India's decision to suspend the tour here The Indian players have been instructed to remain in Sydney until Harbhajan's appeal has been heard - with the BCCI fuming at the decision by the ICC to ban the spinner. Harbhajan was found guilty by match referee Mike Proctor for abusing Symonds during the second Test - which Australia won by 122 runs. However Harbhajan and the BCCI have appealed the decision - and will now refuse to continue the tour until after the second hearing.

Honour

A statement from the BCCI read: "The Board will appeal to the International Cricket Council to review the decision of the match referee and suspend its operation till the appeal is disposed of. "The Indian board realises the game of cricket is paramount but so too is the honour of the Indian team. "To vindicate its position, the board will fight the blatantly false and unfair slur on an Indian player. "The board also questions the very conduct of the hearing as the match referee, before reaching his decision, disregarded the essential point of any inquiry, that it should be based on facts, rational, detached and objective." The India squad were due on Monday to travel to Canberra for a tour match, but instead returned to their hotel rooms. However, Sky Sports News understands that the ICC have received no official confirmation that India are to appeal over Harbhajan's suspension. The BCCI have already complained to the ICC about what they classed as 'incompetent' umpiring in the second Test defeat.
