Bowler's latest hearing delayed because of Eid festivities

Pakistan bowler Shoaib Akhtar will have to wait for his latest appeal hearing against disciplinary sanctions because of Eid festivities. The fastest bowler in the world was given a five-year ban by the Pakistan Cricket Board in April for a string of disciplinary offences including publicly criticising the selectors. He had previously earned a 13-match suspension for hitting team-mate Mohammed Asif with a bat. The latest ban was reduced by an appeal tribunal to 18 months - but a fine of seven million rupees (£50,000) was recommended instead. And the PCB last month demanded that Akhtar must pay the fine before he is allowed to play international cricket again. Akhtar took another appeal to the Lahore High Court and the ban was temporarily lifted until a final decision was made. But with Eid celebrations still going on, that hearing has now been suspended until October 8.
