Stuart Clark will delay his arrival at Kent after being called into Australia's one-day squad in South Africa as a replacement for the injured Brett Geeves.
The 26-year-old suffered a fractured left foot during Thursday's 25-run defeat to the Proteas, when he took one for 67 in his 10 overs and scored 10 not out, ending his innings with a runner.
Having travelled with the team to Port Elizabeth on Friday, Geeves left the set-up on Saturday morning to return home and will now miss the series against Pakistan later this month.
Cricket Australia spokesman Phillip Pope confirmed that Clark would only arrive in Port Elizabeth on Sunday. It seems unlikely that the 33-year-old, who is returning from a long lay-off due to elbow surgery, will play in the fourth one-day international on Monday.
The New South Wales fast bowler had been due to begin a six-week stint with Kent on April 21 as preparation for the Ashes, but will instead replace Geeves for the Pakistan series in Dubai.
Meanwhile, Brett Lee, another fast bowler returning from injury with an eye on the Ashes, met with Australia coach Tim Nielsen, team physio Alex Kountouris and Kings XI Punjab and NSW physio Pat Farhat on Saturday.
Michael Clarke, who will lead the side in the five-match ODI series, was also present.
Lee has been training with the Indian Premier League outfit in Port Elizabeth ahead of the tournament as he makes his way back from ankle surgery, and has been selected for the Pakistan series.
