Lancashire put themselves in pole position to gain promotion as they require just five wickets on the final day to claim a maximum-points victory over Glamorgan.

Michael Hogan (57) top scored for the Welsh county but they were dismissed for 348 in the LV= County Championship clash, a huge 350 runs adrift.

Lancashire put them back in and they lost Jacques Rudolph and Will Bragg to Kyle Jarvis in the space of eight balls before finishing the day on 146-5 - still 204 behind and staring an innings defeat in the face.

Victory for the Red Rose would put them 68 points clear of third-placed Glamorgan in the race for promotion.

Kent claimed maximum points as they crushed Essex by an innings and 207 runs inside three days at Tunbridge Wells.

Resuming on 420-4, Kent amassed a ground record score of 633-8 declared with Ben Harmison (123) and Sam Billings (100 not out) helping them to a first-innings lead of 373.
