Natwest T20 Blast final round group permutations

Gloucestershire celebrate in the T20 Blast
Image: Gloucestershire need to beat Glamorgan and hope Essex lose to qualify for the quarter-finals

Hampshire's victory and Surrey's defeat on Thursday did little to resolve a complicated South Group ahead of a busy final round of Natwest T20 Blast matches on Friday evening.

Hampshire's narrow win over Somerset at the Ageas Bowl leaves them second in the group on 16 points behind Kent, who are the only team guaranteed a place in the quarter-finals.

Barring a huge win for Glamorgan over Gloucestershire on Friday, and wins for Essex and Sussex, they will be in the quarter-finals.

Below Hampshire, Sussex (15pts), Essex (14), Glamorgan (14), Gloucestershire (12) and Surrey (12) all still harbour hopes of qualification.

Sussex and Essex will leapfrog Hampshire and ensure their progress with wins over Surrey and Kent respectively and if either of those slip up, Glamorgan will qualify with any victory over Gloucestershire, who need a victory and an Essex defeat to sneak in.

Surrey are huge outsiders to progress, needing a huge win against Sussex and for Gloucestershire to beat Glamorgan narrowly to have any chance of extending their campaign.

The situation in the North Group is a little clearer, with Warwickshire and Worcestershire already confirmed in the last eight.

Behind them, two of Northamptonshire (15pts), Lancashire (14) and Nottinghamshire (14) will qualify.

Northants can guarantee their spot with victory at home to Durham, while Lancashire are likely to join them if they can beat Worcestershire at New Road because their net run-rate is better than Notts'.

Should Lancashire slip up, Notts can capitalise and seal their place with victory at Leicestershire.
