Glamorgan sign Nick Selman and extend Michael Hogan contract

Glamorgan have signed batsman Nick Selman and extended the contract of bowler Michael Hogan ahead of the 2016 season.

Selman, a 20-year-old from Brisbane, represented Queensland at age grade levels before having spells with Kent, Gloucestershire and Glamorgan 2nd XIs in 2015.

He has signed a one-year contract with the Welsh county.

Selman, who has dual Australian-British citizenship, said he looking forward to helping the club's push for promotion to Division One.

Glamorgan chief executive and director of cricket Hugh Morris said: "We identified we needed more depth to our batting department.

"Nick is a talented young player who will have an opportunity to score runs for the county as he has done in grade cricket in Australia and in Second XI cricket over here.

"Nick has spent some time in county cricket already, so knows what to expect."

Australian fast bowler Hogan meanwhile has agreed to stay at the SWALEC stadium until the end of the 2018 season.

Hogan joined Glamorgan from Western Australia in 2012 and has taken 178 County Championship wickets, at an average of 21.94.

He said: "I'm really pleased to commit my future to Glamorgan, my family and I are enjoying living in Wales and I have been able to put some performances on the board over the last three years.

"We are determined to build on some encouraging performances in all forms of the game in recent years and hopefully we can kick on again in 2016 and bring some success to the club."
