South African batsman could make his return in Roses battle

Jacques Rudolph has rejoined Yorkshire as an overseas player for the remainder of the 2011 season. The South African batsman spent the past four seasons with the Tykes as a Kolpak player before his contract was mutually terminated, allowing him to return home to be closer to his family. However the 30-year-old has now agreed to come back to Headingley for the rest of the summer - and his first game could be against Lancashire. Yorkshire, who currently languish down in eighth place in Division One of the LV County Championship, host their Roses rivals from July 20-23. Martyn Moxon, Yorkshire's director of professional cricket, said: "Jacques is a hugely respected and popular player and we have missed his contribution in all forms of the game this season. "The entire club is very pleased to welcome him back and we look forward to his runs lifting the team in the remaining matches." Rudolph scored 8,629 runs in all competitions during his first spell at Headingley, never failing to reach 1,000 first-class runs in each summer.
