Hampshire and West Indies star Darren Sammy loves hitting sixes. Here are his top tips on how to clear the ropes!

"I love hitting sixes."

Those were the words of Hampshire and West Indies star Darren Sammy ahead of his masterclass on how to clear the ropes for Sky Sports.

The St Lucian, who captained West Indies to the World T20 title earlier this year, has smashed 145 sixes in international cricket, so what are his top tips?

"You need a stable base, to always look at the ball, bring the blade all the way to the ball, and back yourself," said the 32-year-old.

Sammy also spoke about why he looks to get his weight on the back foot when he is bowled length deliveries and how he always gives himself time to get in before teeing off - even though teeing off is his favourite thing to do!

"I am always looking to be positive," added the all-rounder. "My boundary areas are anywhere between long off and square leg and sometimes I give it the big mow and swing it into the bushes!"
