Lancashire paceman fills T20 vacancy with Warriors

Lancashire fast bowler Sajid Mahmood has joined Western Australia for Australia's domestic Twenty20 tournament. The 28-year-old replaces West Indian Kemar Roach as the Warriors' T20 contracted player after Roach was forced to withdraw because of domestic commitments in the Caribbean. Mahmood has played eight Tests, 26 ODIs and four T20Is for England but was overlooked for this winter's Ashes tour. "He is a genuine strike bowler who will shake up opposition batsmen, he is a capable batter who hits the ball a long way, and he is also great in the field, so he offers us the complete package," said Western Australia coach Mickey Arthur. "I have seen Saj perform well in county cricket and international limited-overs matches and I have no doubt he will be a valuable acquisition for the Retravision Warriors." The KFC Big Bash, Australia's domestic T20 competition, runs from December 30 to February 5.
