Glamorgan beat Durham on the final day in Swansea, chasing down 266 with just three balls remaining in a thrilling finish to earn their first County Championship Division Two win of the season.

Opener Nick Selman batted throughout the innings for 116 not out off 129 balls, striking 12 fours and three sixes - the last two coming from the first two balls of the final over - while Colin Ingram (42 off 31) and Chris Cooke (31 off 20) also played their part with aggressive knocks.

Earlier, Durham added 118 to their overnight 158-3 in the morning session, although skipper Paul Collingwood would have probably batted on longer after lunch had 16 overs not been lost to rain.

Collingwood was undefeated on 92 when he chose to declare with his side 276-7 - denying him the chance for a further eight runs which would have seen him become the only Durham player to have twice scored two centuries in the same game.

Glamorgan were given 51 overs to chase their target, and though they made a cautious start, scoring only 61 runs for the loss of two wickets in the opening 24 overs, the middle-order along with Selman fired them to a remarkable victory.

Elsewhere in Division Two, Kent completed a 147-run win over neighbours Sussex with a session to spare on the final day in Tunbridge Wells.

Sam Northeast's unbeaten side, who have not lost to Sussex in their last seven meetings, required 43.4 overs to mop up the last four wickets needed and secure their fourth win of the campaign to remain on the coat-tails of divisional leaders Nottinghamshire.

Resuming on their parlous overnight score of 182-6 - and still 322 shy of their improbable victory target of 504 - Sussex showed greater resilience with Michael Burgess (68) and Vernon Philander (73no) both notching fifties.

But their resistance was ultimately broken, with seamer James Harris - on loan from Middlesex - finishing with 4-103 as Sussex were bowled out for 356.

In Division One, Kumar Sangakkara missed out on a piece of County Championship history as Surrey drew with Essex at Chelmsford.

The Sri Lankan fell 16 runs short of a record-equalling sixth consecutive Championship century - and his 100th hundred across all forms of the game - when fell anticlimactically to part-time spinner Tom Westley late in the day.

Earlier, there had been a doubt at one stage whether Sangakkara would even get the chance to the challenge the record as he was stranded on 79 not out when the umpires took the players off for bad light.

They returned 75 minutes later, though shortly after Sangakkara's dismissal, the captain's shook hands to share 11 points each with Surrey were 246 runs ahead in their second innings with one wicket still to fall.
