Liam Livingstone made his Royal London One-Day Cup debut one to remember as he led Lancashire to a 51-run win over Kent at Canterbury.

Livingstone scored 91 at more than a run-a-ball and his innings, combined with half centuries for Alex Davies and skipper Steven Croft helped Lancashire to a target Kent never looked like attaining.

Their 258-9 total seemed some way off when Matt Coles dismissed Ashwell Prince (4) and Karl Brown (1) to reduce them to 8-2.

Matt Hunn had Alviro Petersen caught behind for 10, but from 26-3 Livingstone and Croft rebuilt the innings in a 112-run stand for the fourth wicket.

Croft eventually fell to Hunn for 55 but Livingstone continued to impress in partnership with Davies before falling nine short of a century, offering up a return catch to Darren Stevens.

Stevens also accounted for Davies, but not before the wicket-keeper had smashed nine fours in a 38-ball innings of 57, with Coles returning to the attack to claim two late wickets and return fine figures of 4-34 in 10 economical overs.

But Kent's reply started badly with Joe Denly - who dropped Livingstone midway through his innings - dismissed by Kyle Jarvis for a seven-ball duck.

Daniel Bell-Drummond and Sam Northeast put on 53 for the second wicket before the former fell to Jordan Clark for 30, and wickets tumbled regularly through the next 10 overs.

Northeast made 36 and Stephen Parry accounted for Sam Billings (8) and Darren Stevens (2) before Fabian Cowdrey was run out before scoring.

Indeed, Kent's defeat would have been heavier but for a fantastically entertaining innings from Alex Blake.

Blake came in at No 7 and knocked the Lancashire attack to all parts of the St Lawrence Ground, hitting five fours and seven sixes.

He was eventually the last man to fall on 89, an innings that came off only 56 balls.
