Graeme Welch will join Leicestershire as Pierre de Bruyn's assistant coach at the end of the season, the club have confirmed.
Welch resigned from his role as Derbyshire's elite performance director in June after two and a half years at the County Ground, and will now link up with De Bruyn - who was confirmed as the county's new head coach from October 1 - for the new campaign.
The 44-year-old joined up with the England Lions coaching staff in January this year before their five-match ODI series with Pakistan A in Dubai and has also worked as a bowling coach for Warwickshire and Essex.
The former Warwickshire and Derbyshire all-rounder played first-class cricket for 13 years, including a spell at Wellington in New Zealand.
Leicestershire chief executive Wasim Khan said: "We're delighted to announce Graeme as part of our new coaching structure at Leicestershire County Cricket Club. Graeme will be a fantastic assistant for Pierre with his tremendous experience of county cricket as both a player and coach.
"I've known 'Pop' for many years and I'm looking forward to him working alongside Pierre as we continue to move the club forward following the excellent work of Andrew McDonald."
Welch said: "I'm really excited to be joining Leicestershire County Cricket Club, I've been looking in from afar and it's clear that things are progressing nicely and moving in the right direction. These are exciting times at the Fischer County Ground and I can't wait to get started in my new role."
