England have selected an unchanged side for the third Ashes Test against Australia in Perth with Jonny Bairstow moving up the order to bat at six.

Craig Overton retains his place in the team after winning his first cap in the 120-run defeat to Adelaide in the second Test, while Moeen Ali swaps with Bairstow in the order to bat at seven.

England trail Australia 2-0 in the five-match series and must avoid defeat in Perth if they are to maintain their challenge for the Ashes - England have lost their last seven Tests in Perth and have not won at the WACA since 1978.

The tourists' preparations for the third Test, which gets underway on Thursday, have been overshadowed by off-field disciplinary issues, with England Lions player Ben Duckett recently suspended and fined for pouring a drink over Jimmy Anderson during a night out.

England captain Joe Root believes the incident has been "blown out of proportion" but has urged his team-mates to put things right on the field as they look to fight their way back into the series.

"It's been frustrating, very frustrating," Root said. "In the obvious circumstances and position we're in, guys have made silly mistakes that of course are going to get blown out of proportion.

"[But] we've probably got one of the biggest games of our lives coming up on Thursday, [and] we have to get it right."

Australia are expected to change their own line-up as they look to secure the urn with two Tests to spare.

Mitchell Marsh is set to replace batsman Peter Handscomb in middle order, although Australian selectors will wait to assess conditions before announcing the team.

Australia captain Steve Smith has hinted Marsh will get the nod over Handscomb but insisted the latter was not being dropped due to a lack of form.

"If we do go down that route it's purely for the reasons we need an extra bowler, nothing to do with anyone's batting," said Smith.
