England batsman Eoin Morgan has broken his finger and will miss the seventh one-dayer against Australia on Sunday.
The Dublin-born player has suffered a fracture of the distal phalanx in the middle finger of his left hand, and will return home to see a specialist.
Morgan, 24, could now be a doubt for the World Cup, starting on February 19 on the subcontinent, depending on the medical assessment given.
He first noticed the problem during the fourth one-day international in Adelaide on January 26 and it has since got progressively worse, prompting an X-ray which showed the fracture.
Crisis
Morgan's injury is the latest in a series of problems that have affected England's limited-overs squad.
Worst hit has been the bowling division with Graeme Swann (knee/back), Tim Bresnan (calf), Ajmal Shahzad (hamstring), Chris Tremlett (side strain) and all-rounder Paul Collingwood (back) all having flown home early.
Paceman Stuart Broad has also been sidelined for the entire series due to the stomach injury he suffered during the Ashes series.
Apart from Bresnan, all of those players are, however, expected to be fit for the World Cup opener against Holland on February 22.
