William Porterfield scored an unbeaten half-century to lead Ireland to a seven-wicket victory in their ICC World Twenty20 qualifier against Namibia.

The Warwickshire left-hander finished a dominant innings with successive fours as the hosts successfully chased down a victory target of 125 with 16 balls to spare in the third Group A match in Belfast.

Porterfield struck a 44-ball 56 not out, which included seven fours and one maximum, and shared in a second-wicket stand of 71 with Niall O'Brien, who fell five runs short of his half-century having struck three fours and a six.

Jason Davidson was responsible for opener Paul Stirling's early dismissal and Kevin O'Brien also fell cheaply to Bernard Scholtz but Porterfield and Middlesex batsman Andrew Balbirnie (18no) saw Ireland to victory.

Earlier, after Ireland won the toss and chose to field, the visitors made 124-8.

JJ Smit top-scored with an innings of 21 that included two sixes while Jean-Pierre Kotze contributed 18 to a below-par score.

John Mooney claimed figures of 3-23 off his four overs for Ireland, with Alex Cusack and George Dockrell picking up two wickets apiece.
