Brendon McCullum will miss the rest of the Indian Premier League season after suffering a hamstring strain against Delhi Daredevils on Thursday.
The 35-year-old New Zealander is currently the second-highest run-scorer for the Gujarat Lions in 2017, having compiled 320 runs from 11 outings.
And the Kiwi tweeted: "Injuries are not ideal but part of our sport. Compressed tournament and long travel can be gruelling."
The Lions have already missed out on qualifying for the IPL play-offs after collecting just three wins in 11 matches.
They are scheduled to play three more matches in the Twenty20 tournament which ends on May 21 after nearly two months of action.
