Legend delighted to retire in style with Royals win

Shane Warne has revealed he would not rule out a comeback but at this moment in time was happy to call time on his glittering cricket career. The Australian legendary leg-spinner played his final match in the Indian Premier League on Friday taking a wicket in his final over for the Rajasthan Royals. The 41-year-old captain and coach led them to a 10-wicket win over Mumbai and he said in his Sunday Herald Sun newspaper column that he was delighted to go out in style. However prior to the match he seemed undecided over his future and stuck by his 'never say never' attitude regarding a comeback. "No-one's approached me, no-one's rang me, no-one's asked me anything so this is my last game, I'm not playing again," he said beforehand.

Never say never

"But in my life I never say never because my life has been pretty weird at times. "So whatever happens, at this stage right now, I'm never going to play another game, so unless something happens at the big bash that I haven't thought of or if someone rings me I suppose I'll probably think it over and go 'That could be fun, no'." Warne, who took 708 wickets in 145 Tests for Australia before retiring from international cricket four years ago, was upbeat and thankful for what he had achieved in his column following the victory. He now wants to focus on being a businessman and spend more time with his children and actress girlfriend Liz Hurley. "I'm happy and ready to go," his column read. "It's the right time. During the week I found myself with a big smile, feeling content with my life and what the future holds personally and from a businessman's point of view. "I am totally ready to say goodbye to the great game of cricket. Please, no more questions about a comeback, even though the ball is still coming out pretty well."
