Kevin Magnussen cleared to race at the Italian GP

Kevin Magnussen has been passed fit to race in the Italian GP following his high-speed crash at Spa on Sunday.

The Renault driver suffered a cut leg during the accident, which occurred at an estimated speed of 180mph.

Magnussen has been cleared to race by the FIA, the sport's governing body, after a check-up at Monza on Thursday.

"I'm feeling much better, which is very good news. I've had several checks that show I am fit to race in Monza," said Magnussen on Wednesday.

"We were running in the top 10 in Belgium and I'm very motivated to repeat this again in Italy."

Meanwhile, both Magnussen and team-mate Jolyon Palmer remain locked in a fight to keep their seats with the team for next season amid renewed speculation that both Esteban Ocon and Sergio Perez could join for 2017. Ocon currently drives for Manor while Perez has repeatedly refused to re-commit to Force India.
