F1's chief executive Bernie Ecclestone insists new chairman Chase Carey has big plans to improve the sport.

F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone and new chairman Chase Carey spoke to Sky Sports News HQ's Craig Slater following the £6bn takeover by Liberty Media on Wednesday.

The duo appeared alongside each other to discuss the deal that has seen the US Firm acquire the sport from CVC Capital Partners, which has had a controlling stake since 2005.

Ecclestone, who will stay on in his current role in a transitional period for the next three years, and Carey discussed a range of topics about the takeover, the future direction of F1 and how the pair will work together as they go forward.

Ecclestone also insisted that F1 had a big future under Carey, and that the new chairman had plans to grow and develop the sport.
