2017 Canadian GP will go ahead, says Montreal's Mayor

Race listed as subject to confirmation on provisional F1 calendar

The Canadian GP will go ahead in 2017, according to Montreal's Mayor Denis Coderre who took to Twitter to make the announcement.

The race was listed as subject to confirmation on the provisional 2017 calendar issued by the FIA. The other races marked as subject to confirmation next year are Brazil and Germany.

"There will be a Grand Prix of Canada in 2017," said Coderre. A statement in French on his Twitter told fans next year's race will be even more exciting as they mark 50 years of F1 in Canada.

The fans will have a local driver to support next year after Lance Stroll was confirmed at Williams in early November.
