We look back at the crash in Russia last year that cost Daniil Kvyat his place in the senior Red Bull line-up

The course of F1 history can often change suddenly and for Daniil Kvyat and Max Verstappen the 2016 Russian GP will always remain significant weekends in their careers.

At the time Kvyat was racing for the senior Red Bull team and Verstappen the junior Toro Rosso outfit, but within one week the seats were reversed in one of the most dramatic driver swaps of recent times.

The trigger for Red Bull's change was Kvyat's error-strewn first lap at his home Sochi race - when he twice crashed into Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel and also caused damage to team-mate Daniel Ricciardo's car.

The crashes came just a fortnight after Kvyat had finished on the podium in China and earned plaudits for standing his ground with Vettel in a heated pre-podium discussion after the German had questioned his driving at the start of that race.

So watch above as we go back to Sochi 2016 when Paul di Resta was at the SkyPad to analyse the clashes that ultimately cost Kvyat his Red Bull seat and led to Verstappen's promotion and stunning first 12 months at Red Bull.

One year on and Sky F1 will be chatting to Kvyat ahead of his home Russian GP this weekend to look back on last year's events and how he has since rebuilt his career and confidence at Toro Rosso.
