Nicholas Latifi appointed Renault test driver

Renault have appointed 20-year-old Canadian Nicholas Latifi as their test driver for 2016.

Combining the role with a race seat in GP2 for DAMS, Latifi 'will be put through a test schedule to enable him to gain his Super Licence with a view to participating in at least one Free Practice session during the course of this year's Formula 1 season.'

"Nicholas is a fast developing young talent who has competed in a diverse selection of championships in his short career to date. We are excited at the prospect of nurturing him into a Formula 1 ready entity at such a dynamic time for the team," said Frederic Vasseur, Renault's Racing Director.

The team's race drivers for 2016 are Jolyon Palmer and Kevin Magnussen following the departures of Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado.
