Ajax and Guangzhou R&F agree deal to create 'best youth academy in China'

Ajax have announced a new five-year partnership with Chinese club Guangzhou R&F with the aim of creating the 'best youth academy in China'.

The deal will involve Ajax sharing their knowledge of developing a youth academy, a scouting department and talent development with Guangzhou through the Ajax Coaching Academy (ACA).

Ajax coaches will support the scheme and share the club's philosophy with Guangzhou, who finished 5th in the 16 team Chinese Super League this season.

Edwin van der Sar, who is now chief executive at Ajax, said: "In recent years, we have been quite active in the Asian market.

"Youth is the core asset of our club and we are delighted that we can leverage our knowledge with an international partner like R&F.

"It is well known that for a club like Ajax it is hard to grow in the current European football industry. With initiatives like ACA we create opportunities to make alternative steps forward."
