Callum Shinkwin on day three in China

Young Englishman Callum Shinkwin stole the show on day three of the Shenzhen International where he carded a 10-under-par 62.

However, for the third day in a row, less than half of the competitors were able to complete their scheduled rounds at the weather affected tournament at Genzon.

One of the lucky few was the 22-year-old Shinkwin who moved 35 positions up the leaderboard and into second place behind Korean Soomin Lee.

The former English Amateur Championship winner, starting on the 10th tee, covered his opening nine holes in just 29 strokes before adding three more birdies on his return to the clubhouse.

The Watford-born golfer is two strokes behind Lee who managed to complete 11 holes before darkness descended.

Lee, who opened with rounds of 66 and 65, is yet to register a bogey in 47 holes and is currently one-under-par for his third circuit of this parkland course.

Two strokes behind Shinkwin are South African Brandon Stone and Southport's Lee Slattery, while the tournament's marquee name, Bubba Watson, is currently 10 shots adrift with three holes still to play.

The two-time Masters champion has swapped three birdies with three bogeys in round three and is unlikely to mount a serious challenge on Sunday.

Shot of the day belonged to Australian Scott Hend, a winner on the European Tour already this year.

The 43-year-old made an albatross two at the par-five 17th as he completed his second round early in the day.

Scott Hend hit a stunning albatross on the 17th hole of the Shenzhen International at Genzon Golf Club, China

The Thailand Classic winner holed from 233 yards and said: "I hit a nice five-wood and heard a clap up at the green.

"When you have a hole in one it's great but an albatross really gives you more of an edge."

Hend went on to card a 65 only to cover the opening 12 holes of his third round in two over par - not helped by a double-bogey six at the seventh. He currently stands eight shots off the pace, with 24 holes remaining on Sunday.
