Gene Sauers outlasted Miguel Angel Jimenez down the stretch to win the US Senior Open Championship on Monday.
The 53-year-old American secured his first senior tournament victory after heavy rain delayed the final round for a day.
He shot three birdies and two bogeys for a one-under final round of 69 to beat Jimenez and Billy Mayfair by a stroke.
Sauers, who began playing again in 2012 after being sidelined for seven years by an illness, trailed Jimenez by a stroke to start the day, overtook him on the second hole and led by a stroke until the 15th.
They were tied at the 18th, but Jimenez bogeyed and Sauers managed a par to win it. Jimenez shot one-over 71 for the day.
