Watch Tiger Woods hole one of the longest putts of his career for a sensational birdie towards the end of his opening 68 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational

Tiger Woods holed one of the longest putts of his career as he enjoyed an excellent start to the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Woods had already mounted a spirited fightback from a double-bogey at the third - his 12th - with two birdies in three holes before blocking his tee shot to the par-three seventh and leaving himself a tough two-putt from the fringe.

But the eight-time champion at Bay Hill then prompted the loudest cheer of the opening day as he judged the line and pace to perfection, his ball making its way down the slope and tracking right-to-left before dropping in the centre of the cup.

His remarkable putt was measured at just over 71 feet and lifted him into the lead at the time, and he would go on to par the final two holes to complete a four-under 68 which left him just one behind early clubhouse leader Jimmy Walker.
