Former England cricketer Jonathan Trott was a welcome guest to the Shot Centre at Sky Studios as he attempted to hit the green at Royal Troon's iconic Postage Stamp eighth hole.

Trott, who scored nine centuries in 52 Tests for England before retiring from international cricket in May last year, is an avid golfer with an "unofficial" handicap of 10 ... ish!

But under the watchful eye of presenter Robert Lee, his swing looked more like a single-figure player as he teed off at the testing 123-yard par-three - one of the featured holes in Sky's coverage of The 145th Open this week.

Trott's first effort was solid, but his ball refused to turn over and it pitched on the bank to the right of the green, although it avoided dribbling into one of the treacherous pot bunkers.

He admitted his most frequent miss was too the right - "a cricketer's miss" according to Rob - but Trott nailed his second attempt and was delighted to see his ball spin back to "gimme" range!
