Justin Thomas' eventful week at Royal Birkdale continued with a nightmare hole in torrid conditions during the second round at The Open.

The world No 13 received plenty of media interest for his choice of clothing during the opening round and was the centre of attention on Friday after seeing his day unravel at the par-four sixth.

Having already carded a bogey and a double-bogey over his first two holes, Thomas was wayward off the tee and found the thick rough in heavy rain and strong winds.

Thomas saw his club get stuck in the thick weeds and needed several attempts to get back in to play, hacking it out with his sixth and pitching to 10 feet with his next.

He then required two putts to card a nine on the par-four, with Thomas left confused at how many shots he had taken!
