An Byeong-hun learns how brutal the Oakmont greens can be in a practice round ahead of the US Open

If you needed a firm indication of just how tricky the Oakmont greens will be during this week's US Open, just watch what happens to An Byeong-hun's ball during a practice round.

An had his back to the hole as he attempted a bunker escape, and he played what he thought was a perfect splash out as his ball pitched in the fringe, took the contours of the putting surface and started trickling slowly towards the cup.

It looked certain that the South Korean's ball would come to rest within inches of the target but, incredibly, it continued beyond the flag and then picked up speed as another slope took effect.

When it was all over, an incredible 31 seconds after An had initially made contact, he was facing a putt of around 15 feet to save his par instead of a tap-in!

The whole incident was captured on video and An, who will play the first two rounds alongside fellow former US Amateur champions Matt Fitzpatrick and Danny Lee, posted the clip on his Instagram account while merely saying: "bit of slopes and fast green speed".
