The Philadelphia Eagles produced an all-round masterclass and held off a late rally to inflict a second successive defeat on the New England Patriots.

Chip Kelly's under-fire Eagles (5-7) scored touchdowns on offence, defence and special teams in a 35-28 win as Tom Brady struggled badly after passing Dan Marino on the all-time touchdowns list in building a 14-0 New England lead.

Brady took his career total to 422 touchdowns with passes to James White and Danny Amendola, moving up to third on the career list behind Peyton Manning (539) and Brett Favre (508).

But that would be their last score until a frantic final five minutes, and it was tied up at 14-14 by half-time with Sam Bradford linking up with Zach Ertz for a five-yard touchdown and Najee Goode blocking a punt and returning it 24 yards for another score.

Brady was picked off by Malcolm Jenkins near the goalline and the cornerback ran the interception back 99 yards to put the Eagles in front, and soon after Darren Sproles returned a punt 83 yards for a fourth Eagles score.

Jordan Matthews made it 35-14 with a 10-yard touchdown reception but Brady was in no mood to give up and rallied the Patriots for a quick score to tight end Scott Chandler.

They recovered an onside kick and succeeded on a key fourth down play on their way to Brady crossing the plane for a one-yard rushing score to bring the deficit down to seven points.

But their second onside kick attempt was not successful and the Patriots were unable to take advantage of a Kenjon Barner fumble with 62 seconds remaining as a series of dropped passes meant defeat and them falling to 10-2 on the season.

The Denver Broncos are also 10-2 on the season after a fantastic defensive display in their 17-3 win over the San Diego Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium.

Brock Osweiler failed to reach the heights of his previous two victories but he did throw a touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas to give Denver an early lead.

Danny Trevathan returned an interception of Philip Rivers 25 yards to make it 14-0 before Brandon McManus and Josh Lambo swapped second quarter field goals for what turned out to be the final points of the game.

The Broncos managed four sacks of Rivers and forced four fumbles as they made sure there would be no second half comeback from the home side.

The Kansas City Chiefs improved to 7-5 with a 34-20 win over the Oakland Raiders, who drop to 5-7 and look to be running out of time in their bid to make the post-season.

Alex Smith, who rushed for an early touchdown, threw two touchdown passes to Jeremy Maclin in the fourth quarter to get the Chiefs in front, and they sealed victory when Tyvon Branch intercepted Derek Carr and returned it 38 yards for a score.
