The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed a six-year contract extension with offensive tackle Lane Johnson.

According to NFL.com, the deal is worth up to $63m with $35.5m in guarantees.

Since being drafted with the fourth overall pick in 2013, Johnson has started each of the 44 games in which he's played, including one playoff game.

"I was happy when the deal came along," Johnson said. "It's obviously not something you want to pass up. I want to be here the rest of my career. I've got a lot of guys in the locker room that are like brothers, like family to me. It's where I want to be."

Of Johnson's 44 starts, 42 have come at right tackle while two have come at left tackle when eight-time Pro Bowl selection Jason Peters was injured.

The Eagles view Johnson as the eventual natural successor to Peters, 34, on the left side of the offensive line but the 25-year-old is content to continue on the right side for the time being.

"I think that's what they drafted me for," Johnson said. "Obviously, Jason Peters is probably the best tackle of all time, one of them, him and Walter Jones in my opinion. Having him here, he's taught me so much. I'm just going to continue to do that until the time comes.

Johnson's deal caps a busy week for the Eagles front office who also agreed contract extensions with tight ends Zach Ertz and Brent Celek.

On Monday, the Eagles signed 2013 second-round pick Zach Ertz to a five-year, $42.5m contract extension, locking the 25-year-old tight end up through 2021.

That was followed by a three-year extension for Celek on Tuesday worth $13m with $6m guaranteed.
