Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak suffered a severe migraine following Sunday's 23-16 defeat to the Atlanta Falcons, and will take week six off to recover.

The Broncos, 4-1, are scheduled to play the San Diego Chargers on Thursday night and special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis will become interim head coach in place of Kubiak.

"On Sunday night, he (Kubiak) went to the hospital where they diagnosed what's called a complex migraine", Broncos general manager John Elway said in a press conference on Monday.

"The prognosis is good but Gary will take this week off, take care of any issues and try to find out if there are any specific triggers."

Kubiak suffered a 'mini-stroke' in 2013, during a game in his time as head coach of the Houston Texans. Speaking on the 'Inside the Huddle podcast, Sky Sports NFL coach Jeff Reinebold said that the pressure of coaching makes the job tough to remain at full health.

"This job requires so many hours and the intense pressure that coaches are under is just the nature of the business. It is not one that is good for your health.

"I really feel for Gary because he had a scare earlier in his career, and this migraine is exacerbated because of the hours and the pressure."
