Reigning Super Bowl champions Denver Broncos will be trying to avoid a third straight defeat when they take on the Houston Texans on Monday night.
Quarterback Brock Osweiler returns to Mile High for a homecoming. He had been expected to replace the retired Peyton Manning as the Broncos' quarterback last season and even went 5-2 as a starter before signing for the Texans in a $72 million deal.
Then there's Texans coach Gary Kubiak, who is now at Denver. He has not faced his former team in a regular-season game since being hired two years ago.
The Broncos still have a defence that can be dominant while the Texans have been among the most inconsistent teams in the league despite their 4-2 record.
They have lost both of their road games by 27 and 18 points at New England and Minnesota, respectively.
With J.J. Watt out injured for the season, Houston are getting the most from their 2014 top overall pick and defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, who's tied for the NFL lead with eight tackles for loss.
The Texans placed cornerback Kevin Johnson on injured reserve on Saturday after he suffered a broken foot in Houston's overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts last weekend.
Johnson is among four players ruled out for the Texans, joining safety Quintin Demps (calf), linebacker Brian Peters (quadriceps) and running back Jonathan Grimes (ankle).
For the Broncos, outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware will miss his fifth consecutive game due to a fractured forearm.
