The Chicago Bears have announced that they are going to start rookie quarterback Mitchell Trubisky in their Week Five game against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football.

The No 2 overall pick in the draft from North Carolina will start his first career NFL game, replacing Mike Glennon who has struggled as the Bears slumped to a 1-3 record through their first four games.

Glennon has thrown five interceptions and lost three fumbles in that time, with two of those fumbles and a pair of picks coming in their latest loss against divisional rivals, Green Bay Packers, last Thursday.

Chicago head coach John Fox confirmed the new when speaking to local radio station WBBM-FM, saying the Trubisky move was "a decision that needed to be made".

"He's got that maturity and confidence you have to have in that position," Fox added. "We didn't give ourselves a chance in two games. We have to change that."

Trubisky was a starter for just one season at North Carolina and, over 13 games with the team, he completed nearly 70 per cent of his passes for 3,748 yards, 30 touchdowns and six interceptions.
