Both the Texans (4-6) and the Ravens (5-5) have shown flashes of promise this season, mixed in with moments of real struggle. Can a win inspire a late run to the playoffs for one of these two?

What can we expect to see from their Monday night meeting?...

In a tweet...

The Texans and Ravens desperately try to keep pace in their division and cling onto slim playoff hopes with a win on Monday Night Football.

What's the latest?

Texans Pro Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is on track to start, despite being troubled by a foot injury, though fellow wideout Will Fuller is ruled out for the second straight game, with cracked ribs.

Bruce Ellington will again come in for Fuller, playing alongside his cousin, running back Andre Ellington, who was claimed off waivers from Arizona this week after rookie RB D'Onta Foreman went on injured reserve having ruptured his left Achilles against the Cardinals last week.

Meanwhile, Baltimore starting left tackle Ronnie Stanley looks ready to return to the line-up after missing their last game with a concussion. Starting inside linebacker C.J. Mosley also expects to play on Monday despite missing practice time this week with an ankle injury, but the Ravens' rookie London-born offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor misses out with a shoulder injury.

Stat attack

The Ravens defeated the Packers 23-0 last week to register their third shutout this season. Baltimore is only the fifth team over the past 30 years to manage that in a single season - three of the previous four went on to win the Super Bowl that year, the 1991 Redskins, the 2000 Ravens and 2003 Patriots.

Key battle

Given the ferocious four of that Ravens defense, Texans back-up QB Tom Savage will need to be at his best on Monday night. Savage struggled in his first two games starting in place of injured rookie star Deshaun Watson, throwing two interceptions and losing three fumbles. Last week against the Cardinals, however, Savage threw for 230 yards and two touchdowns. He'll need another of those showings if Houston are to see off Baltimore.

Game-changer

Jadeveon Clowney. The Texans No 1 overall pick in the 2014 draft had two sacks in their win over Arizona last week - his fourth consecutive game with at least one QB takedown. Clowney has eight sacks in the team's past eight games and since Week Three, he is tied for the second-most in the NFL. Look out Joe Flacco!
