The Kansas Chiefs are trading Pro Bowl cornerback Marcus Peters to the Los Angeles Rams for a collection of draft picks, according to multiple reports on Friday.
The trade is officially agreed to by the two teams, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The deal cannot be completed until the start of the new league year on March 14 but the Rams appeared to confirm the deal by posting a picture of a plane ticket from Kansas City International Airport to Los Angeles International Airport.
On Thursday, rumours surfaced that the Chiefs would be willing to trade the two-time Pro Bowl corner.
The 25-year-old Peters registered 46 tackles, five interceptions, nine passes defensed, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries last season.
Peters was voted to the Pro Bowl after the 2015 and 2016 seasons, won the 2015 Defensive Rookie of the Year Award and was an Associated Press first-team All-Pro selection in 2016.
Issues cropped up with Peters last season, most notably a one-game suspension by coach Andy Reid because of his behaviour in a 38-31 loss to the New York Jets in Week 13.
Peters drew a penalty after throwing an official's flag into the stands and walking off the field following a disagreement with a call late in the game against the Jets on December 3. Peters returned without his helmets and socks because he thought he had been ejected from the game.
The Chiefs' first-round pick in 2015 has 19 career interceptions in 45 games.
Kansas City have already made two additions at the cornerback position this offseason, signing free agent David Amerson on a one-year $2.25m contract and acquiring Kendall Fuller from the Redskins in the trade that sent quarterback Alex Smith to Washington.
