After visiting five teams over the past two weeks, former Indianapolis Colts cornerback Vontae Davis will sign a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills.
The two-time Pro Bowler announced his intentions Monday evening on Twitter.
In addition to Buffalo, Davis had visited the Cleveland Browns, San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders and the Miami Dolphins, who drafted him 25th overall in 2009 and traded him to Indianapolis for a second-round pick during training camp in 2012.
Davis went on to earn Pro Bowl selections in 2014 and 2015, collecting eight interceptions and 43 passes defensed in that span.
The 29-year-old was released by the Colts in November after seeking additional medical opinions and opting to have season-ending surgery to correct a core muscle injury. He was cleared in his recovery earlier this month.
In his most successful campaigns in Indianapolis, Davis played predominantly at right cornerback, as opposed to traditional No. 1 corners who usually line up on the defense's left side.
Tre'Davious White, the Bills' first-round pick last season, thrived as the team's left cornerback as a rookie, finishing second in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting.
The Bills' other starting cornerback in 2017, E.J. Gaines, is set to hit free agency March 14 after spending one season in Buffalo. Bills' cornerbacks Shareece Wright and Leonard Johnson are also scheduled to become free agents.
