The Los Angeles Rams have acquired receiver Brandin Cooks from the New England Patriots.

Los Angeles sent a 2018 first-round draft choice (No. 23 overall) and a 2018 sixth-round pick to the Patriots. New England also dealt its 2018 fourth-round choice to the Rams.

Cooks caught 65 passes for 1,082 yards and seven touchdowns last season in his lone campaign with the Patriots. He spent his first three seasons with the New Orleans Saints.

Overall, Cooks has 280 receptions for 3,943 yards and 27 touchdowns in four NFL seasons.

Cooks, 24, is entering the fifth year of his rookie contract and could become a free agent after the 2018 season.

New England also lost wide receiver Danny Amendola to Miami in free agency.

The Patriots now possess two first-round picks (Nos. 23 and 31) and two second-round picks (Nos. 34 and 63) in this month's draft. The 34th overall selection came in the trade in which quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was sent to the San Francisco 49ers last year.

The transaction also means it is unlikely the Rams remain in the sweepstakes to acquire Odell Beckham Jr. from the New York Giants.

Los Angeles will not pick until the third round with the 87th overall selection.
