Odell Beckham Jr has reported to the New York Giants for their voluntary offseason workouts on Monday.

Giants coach Pat Shurmur said the wide receiver, who has been widely rumoured with a trade away from New York, is in the building to begin their offseason conditioning programme.

"I really believe Odell is a professional. He wants to be great. He understands the importance of the offseason. He's a competitive guy...I'm glad he's here today," Shurmur said.

Shurmur had recently stated the wide receiver was "ready to go" and expected him to attend their workouts.

Beckham Jr missed the end of last season due to an ankle injury he occurred in October against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Shurmur said at the NFL owner meetings in March: "All indications is Beckham Jr is ready to play come the start of the season in September."

Giants owner John Mara did not rule out the possibility of the 25-year-old being involved in a trade and admitted he "wouldn't say anyone is untouchable".

"Do I want him to be traded? Absolutely not," Mara said. "I want him to be a Giant. I can't promise that's going to happen. We're not looking to get rid of him, OK?''

It is understood the Los Angeles Rams and the Giants held talks over a potential trade for the wide receiver who, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport "will not set foot on a field" until an extension is in place.

A first-round draft pick, plus extras, could be a part of that deal, according to multiple NFL sources.
