Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas has said he will not be attending any team activities until his contract situation is resolved.

Reports have suggested Thomas could make a move to the Dallas Cowboys after approaching them in December in their locker room following Seattle's 21-12 win at the AT&T Stadium.

Head coach Pete Carroll said last month he expected Thomas to return to the Seahawks for their mandatory mini-camp, but the 29-year-old has stated otherwise.

"I will not be attending the upcoming mini-camp of any team activities until my contract situation is sorted," Thomas said on his Twitter account.

"I want everyone especially the 12s to know that I want to remain a Seahawk for the rest of my career but I also believe that based on my production over the last eight years, I've earned the right to have this taken care of as soon as possible.

"I want to have certainty in regards to the upcoming years of my career. I'm going to continue to work my craft and put in work so that I can add to the team and give us the best chance to win.

"I hope my team-mates understand where I'm coming from, I believe this is the right thing to do. E.T."

It is not the first activity Thomas will miss as he has not attended any of the OTA's [organised team activities] during the off-season.

He was a part of the Seahawks team that beat the Denver Broncos 43-8 to win the Super Bowl in 2014. He is also a six-time Pro-Bowler.

During the 2016 season, Thomas broke his tibia which ended his season but he was still ranked 30th among his peers in the NFL Top 100 Players list.
