News of of the pick of the action from Beverley where Ivan Furtado's Hulcolt notched his fourth win on the Westwood.
Hulcolt confirmed his liking for Beverley by notching up his fourth win on the Westwood in the James "Doug" Norris Is 60 Today Handicap.
Trained by Ivan Furtado, the five-year-old took a step forward from his seasonal reappearance when he was fourth at the track.
Graham Gibbons sat just a length behind front-running Count Montecristo before kicking on with over a furlong to run to claim a decisive advantage.
Taper Tantrum emerged from out of the pack but was a length and a half behind at the line.
"He hadn't had a run for a long time when he ran here last week. He was fit enough, but probably used up a lot of energy early on," said Furtado.
"This time he was spot-on. Winning (over eight and a half furlongs) opens up a few more options, but I'd have thought we'd definitely come back here at some point as he obviously likes it."
Owen Burrows, who took over from Barry Hills in the winter, recorded just his second winner, and first on turf, when Fawaareq (2-5 favourite) landed the High Definition Racing UK Maiden Stakes under Paul Hanagan.
However, it was far from straightforward as he scrambled home by a neck from Heir To A Throne.
China Excels (10-1) made every yard of the running to win the Annie Oxtoby Memorial Handicap.
Rob Hornby was positive on the nine-year-old, who has obviously lost none of his dash.
Trainer Mandy Rowland only has 11 horses in training and said: "Rob's got the gist of him. He rides him very well and gave him a brilliant ride.
"He's got that much early (pace), but he keeps going and going."
Brian Ellison's juvenile Orewa just maintained his unbeaten start to life in the Racing UK In Glorious HD Novice Stakes.
Sent off the 7-4 favourite to follow up a course win last month, his task was made harder by a 4lb penalty.
For a long way it looked as if he may have to settle for second as Richard Fahey's Carson City blazed a trail.
However, Ben Curtis persevered and managed to get his head in front on the line.
Owner Keith Brown said: "I thought he'd got beat, but he came back ever so well. The jockey said he was very green so you'd think there'd be more to come.
"We'll have a look at the Brian Yeardley back here, but it might come too soon. I reckon on that, you'd say he might want six (furlongs)."
Roaring Rory (3-1) provided Ollie Pears and Jacob Butterfield with a winner in the Very British Raceday Saturday 28 May Selling Stakes while Livella Fella was a 12-1 winner of the Happy 70th Birthday Graham Roberts Handicap for Keith Dalgleish and Philip Makin.
Tim Palin, of owners Middleham Park Racing, said: "She deserved that, the amount of placed finishes she had.
"Keith's doing a great job for us with the youngsters and Phil gave her a very clever ride."
