Fair Eva is set to make her next appearance in the Group 2 Shadwell Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket on September 23 after she pleased trainer Roger Charlton in a gallop on Wednesday.

She was one of 49 fillies to stand their ground following Tuesday's scratching stage for the £100,000 seven furlong contest which shares top billing with another Shadwell-sponsored Group 2 event, the Joel Stakes, on the second day of the three-day Cambridgeshire meeting.

A daughter of the great Frankel, Fair Eva shot to prominence with an easy four length victory in the Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot in July before suffering a surprise reverse when third, beaten a length and a half by Queen Kindly, in last month's Group 2 Lowther Stakes at York.

But that was over six furlongs and the Prince Khalid Abdulla-owned home-bred, who has plenty of stamina in her pedigree, is now set for a step up in distance.

Her possible Shadwell Rockfel Stakes rivals include the filly who finished one place in front of her in the Lowther, Roly Poly, who had earlier been successful in  the Group 2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes (sponsored by Imagine Cruising) at Newmarket's Moët & Chandon July Festival, not to mention a number of Group 3 scorers such as Brave Anna, Kilmah, Nations Alexander and Promise To Be True.

Roger Charlton, trainer of Fair Eva, said: "Fair Eva is in good form. I was happy with her work this morning which was the first serious work that she has done since the Lowther, and she is on course for the Shadwell Rockfel Stakes."

"Nothing came to light after her defeat at York and, although she might have been a little bit quiet for a few days afterwards, she has been fresh and well over the last week.

"I still believe that she is one of the best that I have trained and a step up to seven furlongs is definitely what she needs. The Rockfel will be good practice for her as I hope that she will be running at Newmarket again in the future."
