Ardhoomey upstaged some bigger names when springing a surprise for Ger Lyons in the Group Two Derrinstown Stud Flying Five Stakes.
The four-year-old came up well short at this level over the same course and distance in July and was sent off at 16-1 on the back of a disappointing showing at Navan last weekend.
Take Cover was first to show and took them along before being joined by Spirit Quartz with two furlongs to run, but they had no answer when Washington DC and Ardhoomey burst through a furlong out and Colin Keane's mount got up late for a half-length triumph.
Lyons said: "What do trainers know, as I didn't want to run him the way the ground was.
"Because of his issues we always felt he wants top of the ground. We were hoping the rain wouldn't come and the ground could dry out a bit.
"We tucked him in today and put a tongue-tie on to see if it helped. I suppose if you're not in you can't win.
"I think he can run in all the big races on fast ground next year."
