The Welsh Champion Hurdle at Ffos Las has been moved from February to a new slot on October 15.

This year the race is worth £30,000 and after extensive drainage work has been carried out on both the chase and hurdle tracks, officials will be hoping to avoid the heavy ground which is so prevalent at the venue for their feature day.

"The race has been warmly received by trainers and punters as a fantastic addition to the National Hunt calendar," said Ffos Las sales director Sarah Jones.

"The winter weather conditions for the past two years have been extreme and the chairman and directors have taken the decision to relocate the fixture from February to October.
