Jack Hobbs could travel to the Far East for the Longines Hong Kong Vase at Sha Tin on December 11.

Connections of last year's Irish Derby hero want to make up for lost time after the John Gosden-trained colt missed most of the campaign having being injured on his seasonal debut in the Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket in April.

Jack Hobbs made a highly-encouraging comeback from a stress fracture when third to Almanzor and Found in the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot on Saturday, over a trip short of his best, to show he has made a full recovery and retains all his ability.

"Almanzor is the best three-year-old in Europe and Found is an Arc winner, so to be third to them is great. I'm thrilled with it," said Gosden.

"He wants a mile and a half, but he finished really strongly.

"He'll go to Dubai in March and we'll have a look at the Hong Kong Vase. After all he's only had one race this year. He's looking great and enjoying life.

"He worked well going into the race and had a racecourse gallop. I think there's a lot of improvement in him. He's like his dad (Halling) - improving with age."
