Who Dares Wins earned a crack at the valuable Wessex Youth Trust Handicap Hurdle at Ascot on December 17 after winning last weekend.

The race, formerly known as The Ladbroke, became a viable target for the Alan-King-trained four-year-old after he scooted nine lengths clear in the Gerry Feilden at Newbury.

Owned by Henry Ponsonby, Who Dares Wins won the Grade Two Summit Hurdle at Doncaster last season and has been raised 9lb for his Newbury romp.

"I thought he was well-in off 140 and so it proved," said Ponsonby.

"He's gone up 9lb for that, having gone up a 1lb for his first run at Chepstow when a close fourth to Ballyoptic.

"He can still improve his jumping, he wasn't very fluent at the last at Newbury.

"He'll go for the Wessex Youth Trust Handicap, which used to be the Ladbroke, and I think Ascot, and the way that race is run, will really suit him."

The Grade Three has attracted 37 entries, including 11 from Ireland.

This year's renewal could see a rematch between Jolly's Cracked It and Sternrubin, who dead-heated for first place last season.

A strong Irish contingent includes the Tony Martin-trained Golden Spear, who has been in great form on the Flat.

Martin has also entered Quick Jack, Pyromaniac and Voices Of Spring.

The Irish challenge also includes recent Grade Three scorer Labaik, trained by Gordon Elliott.

Elliott can also choose from Campeador and Mick Jazz.

Noel Meade has entered Waxies Dargle and De Name Escapes Me, while Willie Mullins is responsible for Renneti.

The Eddie Harty-trained Copy That is also in the frame.
