Ground conditions at Exeter on Tuesday will determine running arrangements for Gary Moore in the 188Bet Haldon Gold Cup.

The Sussex trainer has the option of running stable stalwart Sire De Grugy or the talented but fragile Ar Mad, who has not been seen since finishing fourth to Un De Sceaux in the Tingle Creek at Sandown last December.

Moore said: "It depends on the ground. I will only run one, but which one I don't know. If it cuts up I will run Sire De Grugy, then I would save Ar Mad for the handicap at Ascot (Shawbrook Handicap Chase, November 25).

"The plan was for Sire De Grugy to go for that same handicap, he won it last year. If it came up soft, he would better off running in a handicap carrying 12st as opposed to running against them in the Haldon Gold Cup."
