A round-up of the rest of the action from Doncaster on the second day of the Ladbrokes St Leger Festival.

Jeremy Noseda is eyeing a trip to the Breeders' Cup with Nemoralia following a facile victory in the British Stallion Studs "Carrie Red" EBF Fillies' Stakes at Doncaster.

The Newmarket trainer is no stranger to Stateside success and claims to have had a trip across the pond in mind for some time with this exciting American-bred filly.

Following a couple of pleasing efforts in defeat, Nemoralia opened her account in some style at Kempton in early August and was a 7-4 favourite for her nursery debut under Frankie Dettori.

Those who took the prohibitive odds had few concerns during the extended six-furlong contest, with Dettori exuding confidence towards the stands side.

Once given her head, Nemoralia eased clear and only had to be pushed out hands and heels to beat Sharaakah by a very cosy length.

"I thought the handicapper had given her a big chance. I've always felt she was a Stakes filly," said Noseda.

"She goes on the turf, but I think she is probably a real dirt filly. That (Breeders' Cup Fillies' Juvenile) has been in my mind for three or four months, but I'll have a chat with Frankie and then make a plan."

Sky Bet have introduced Nemoralia at 14/1 for the Breeders' Cup Fillies Juvenile.

Co-owner Charlie Pigram seemed keen on the idea. "We'll see what Jeremy says but the Breeders' Cup would be a good adventure," he said. "She was 16/1 for that race this morning but I doubt she'll be that now. If Jeremy wants to go out there with her, we'll be following."

Mr Lupton (10/1) gave trainer Richard Fahey his third triumph in six years in the Weatherbys Hamilton £300,000 2-Y-O Stakes with a narrow hard-fought verdict over Humphrey Bogart.

Jamie Spencer was at his strongest as he pushed the son of Elnadim out all the way to scoop the first prize of £215,654.

The field were spread right across the course with a handful of horses holding every chance at the furlong pole.

Mr Lupton and Humphrey Bogart, the 7/2 favourite, battled out the finish with the former, who had been second in Newbury's Weatrherbys Super Sprint, getting the nod by a head. Twin Sails was third, two and a quarter lengths away.

However, connections had to endure a nervous time as a stewards' inquiry was called but the places were allowed to stand.

Spencer, who was given a one-day suspension for careless riding, said: "He travelled smooth throughout and he showed a good turn of foot to get there in the end. Richard said he had a good chance. He's a smart horse and he picked up nicely when I wanted."

Fahey said: "The best horse won and this horse was pricking his ears. He was just wandering about there. It would have been tough if they had taken it off him.

"It's a great result, especially as I have a share in him. I will have to see the race again as I had six in it and I was trying to watch them all, but it sounds like it was a 'Spencer special'.

"He's a super little horse. We'll take him back to Musley Bank and make a plan from there. He's in the Redcar race (totepool Two-Year-Od Trophy) and we'll think about that."

Richard Hannon was delighted with the run of Humphrey Bogart, despite the decision of the stewards not to change the result.

"He ran a super race - we're delighted," said Hannon.

"We got a nudge in the last half a furlong but that's racing. We've got a nice horse on our hands - we thought that and he's proved that. There are no immediate plans but we'll sit down and have a think after the weekend.

"This horse could easily turn into a nice Guineas horse or something like that next year."

Dean Ivory, trainer of Twin Sails, revealed that the colt is not quite over a virus that he contracted several weeks ago.

"I don't think he's run to his best," said Ivory.

"He's not quite right as he made a terrible noise when Robert (Winston - jockey) pulled him up. He's had a bit of a virus and has been on a course of antibiotics but I'd have liked another 10 or so days with him and another couple of gallops to really open those lungs up.

"We'll give him a chance to get over this now but we had to go for this type of race as there's so much money on offer. I still think he's smart and think he would have won by five or so lengths had he been right."

California (5/2 favourite) maintained her unbeaten record with an emphatic victory in the crownhotel-bawtry.com Thoroughbred Breeders' Association Fillies' Handicap.

Successful on her only previous start at Wetherby in July, the daughter of Azamour led inside the final furlong and bounded away to score by three and a quarter lengths from Roxy Star. Haalan, the long-time leader, was a length and a half away in third place.

John Gosden said: "She was my only runner at Wetherby, and my only winner.

"She's a very progressive filly and it's great for Doncaster to put on race like this - a three-year-old fillies' handicap. It's hard to find races for them. Full marks to Doncaster.

"We'll start to look at Listed races in France now. There are a few there in October and November that might be suitable for her."

Blue Waltz (10/1) recorded her first success since winning at this meeting 12 months ago with a resounding performance to take the Margaret And Derrick's 50 Golden Years Handicap.

The Luca Cumani-trained filly, giving Spencer a double following his win on Mr Lupton earlier on the card, showed a terrific turn of foot to settle the issue.

Taking it up inside the final furlong, Blue Waltz pulled two and three-quarter lengths of Forgotten Hero, who held Quick Wit by a nose for second place.

Cumani said: "She obviously likes Doncaster. She won at this meeting last year.

"I think she probably lost her last race before the start as she wasn't relaxed and raced with the choke out.

"Today she settled much better and has done it really well and I think this is her trip. She won well, I must say. She travelled beautifully.

"Soft ground wouldn't be any bother to her, she doesn't mind that. We'll see what the handicapper does, but it would be nice to get some black type with her. I think she deserves it."

Saeed bin Suroor's Very Talented (4/6 favourite) lived up to his name and confirmed the promise of two previous efforts with a comprehensive triumph in the DFS British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes.

Winning jockey James Doyle said: "He ran a good race first time at Goodwood and then probably bumped into a smart filly (Beautiful Morning) at York.

"It was there for him to lose today, but he could do no more than he did. He's a fine, big horse and should make a nice three-year-old."

The concluding This Is The Ladbrokes Life Handicap went to the David O'Meara-trained Rex Imperator (13/2 favourite), who travelled powerfully in his cheekpieces before showing a smart turn of foot and then just hanging on to hold stablemate Regal Dan.

Jockey David Nolan said: "He was an unlucky horse last time at Thirsk but he has to be ridden that way and needs luck to go his way.

"I'm very proud to have a winner at this meeting. This is my best season so far as a jockey so I just hope it can keep going well for me till the end of the year and I keep having winners."
