Novak Djokovic destroyed his racket after being broken by Milos Raonic midway through the first set

Novak Djokovic destroyed his racket in a wave of frustration as he was broken by Milos Raonic during their Cincinnati Masters quarter-final encounter.

The 13-time Grand Slam champion had already squandered five break points in Raonic's opening service game and his mood didn't improve when he was broken by his Canadian opponent to fall 4-3 behind in the first set.

Djokovic, who had earlier been forced to complete his held-over match against Grigor Dimitrov, came into the meeting with a perfect record, having won the previous eight matches against Raonic.

The former world No 1 reacted to being broken by smashing his racket on the ground three times before picking out a new one from his bag.

Despite being on the back foot Djokovic recovered well to win four games in a row to win the first set only for Raonic to bounce back and force a deciding set.
