The Rogers Cup continues on Thursday with Novak Djokovic and Stan Wawrinka in action in Toronto.
Djokovic takes on the veteran Czech Republic player Radek Stepanek as he looks to continue his preparations ahead of the Olympics next month.
Also, home-favourite Milos Raonic, who beat Yen-Hsun Lu on Wednesday in his first match since losing the Wimbledon final to Andy Murray, will play US qualifier Jared Donaldson.
Second-seed Stan Wawrinka is in action against Jack Sock, while third-seed Kei Nishikori faces another American in Rajeev Ram.
Meanwhile, Ivo Karlovic - who beat 2014 US Open champion Marin Cilic in the last round, faces Kevin Anderson, Frenchman Gael Monfils plays Belgian David Goffin, Tomas Berdych goes up against US qualifier Ryan Harrison and big-serving South African Kevin Anderson plays Australian Bernard Tomic.
There is British interest in the doubles as Jamie Murray and partner Bruno Soares face Tomic and Viktor Troicki.
